Lusitano Breed Society of Great Britain Annual Show
I attended the Lusitano Breed Society of Great Britain Annual Show 2011 at the College Equestrian Centre, Church Road, Keysoe, Bedforshire this September, and had a fantastic time!
Upon arrival the outlook was glorious sunshine, everyone was in high spirits and my exhibit was facing the beautiful and spacious outdoor arenas. Immediately it was very clear that the quality of horses on show were of the most breath taking kind, billowing manes (or perfectly prim plaits) accentuated bounteous crests of neck and bouncy proud strides from these naturally very showy beasts. The camera never was put away, as shot after shot was taken by my partner and I, stored away ready to be drawn from in the near future, the Lusitanos on display were the perfect inspiration.
It was lovely to see old and new faces at the event, Shereene and Leila Rhamatalla were out representing Sussex Lusitanos with their beautiful Bay, and Marcia Wakeman took to the classes with her usual style and flair of being able to “make them talk” in the arena.
I would like to say thank you to all those who showed such a great amount of interest in my artwork, many pieces were sold, including prints and originals, (we ran out of greetings cards; which was fantastic) and many placed an order for a commission, so all in all the event was a total success!
I also met a lovely guy called Rod who runs the fantastic Equine Gallery called PELLHAM FINE ART where a few pieces of my work are now on display, and a new link on the website will be live in the very near future, exhibiting originals and prints from my collections!

The event was rounded off nicely for us when, for the Champions of Champions class, I awarded the winner with an original piece of artwork as first prize. This was a great experience for me to hand over the prize to such a worthy winner… but I think the moment might have been lost on the stallion I was awarding the prize too, as he seemed to have cleaned up on the prize front during the show, and appeared a little bored with the lime light by the time it was my turn to celebrate with him his triumph haha! Ah well a true winner doesn’t need or like to brag evidently.
